There are many positive effects of music on human mind that exert amazing results.
First, music can effect on human mind with social aspect. Music is a basic phenomenon created in society interacting with people. Numerous songs are releasing everyday and people enjoy new released music as well as old popular music. In this situation, people feel sense of unity and belonging within certain community. For example, in the 1990s, the singer group 'SeoTaeJi and boys' was criticized for the reason that their songs are difficult and don't fit with Korean culture. However, after a month, they changed the current of Korean music market and become the idol of teenagers. One of their song, Come Back Home especially rippled huge social effects. After the song was released, teenage runaways whom even police couldn't find and the parents couldn't make them come back home actually came back home by themselves. In this case, teenage runaways' mind felt sense of belonging and accepted the song to their mind and situation.
Second, the right music can put somebody in better mood and soothe emotional confusion related to breath and blood pressure. That's because music has the ability to express people's feelings better than any other medium. A new study reported in Heart, a British Medical Journal publication, has shown that listening to fast music increases blood pressure, whereas listening to slower music has the opposite effect. People who have listened different 6 kinds of music proved this facts. Also, people generally breathe 25~35 times for a minute. But the speed of breathing becomes different in accordance with the music people listen to. Deep and slow breathing can make people control their feelings, do deep thinking, undergo better metabolism change. Music can achieve these amazing things.
Third, music has the ability to ease the pain. In fact, according to a paper in the Journal of Advanced Nursing, music can reduce chronic pain by up to 21%. The paper reports that 60 patients participated in a controlled clinical trial and were subdivided into two groups — music and no music. The results suggest that people who listened to music for an hour each day for a week had improved physical and psychological symptoms compared to those who didn't listen to music. So there days, people made music therapy that can accomplish individual goals within a therapeutic relationship by a professional who has finished an approved music therapy program. Music therapy uses music and all of its facets—physical, emotional, mental, social, aesthetic, and spiritual—for clients' physical and mental health such as cognitive functioning, motor skills, emotional development, social skills, and quality of life by using music experiences such as free improvisation, singing, and listening to, discussing, and moving to music to achieve treatment goals.
Lastly, music training can improve our motor and reasoning skills significantly that are related to human mind. One study showed that children who had three years or more musical instrument training performed better than those who did not learn an instrument in auditory discrimination abilities and fine motor skills. They also distinguished themselves better on vocabulary and nonverbal reasoning skills, which involve understanding and analyzing visual information, such as identifying relationships, similarities and differences between shapes and patterns. These two areas in particular are quite removed from musical training as we imagine it, so it’s fascinating to see how learning to play an instrument can help kids develop such a wide variety of important skills.
